Predictor versus response permutation for significance testing in weighted regression and redundancy analysis

چکیده
In testing an overall null hypothesis, it does not matter whether to permute the response variables (Y) while keeping predictors fixed or predictor (X) fixed. However, in weighted (univariate and multivariate) regression partial tests these options yield different results. This paper defines evaluates by simulation ordinary standardized versions of X- Y-permutation for which encompass existing Double Semi-Partialling, here called Collins-Dekker, Freedman-Lane permutation methods. When error variance is inversely proportional weights, methods (which use residuals) are most powerful, as expected, but otherwise they can be extremely liberal. contrast, X-permutation permutes residuals X given any covariates ‘as is’) far robust against variability weights variance-weight relationship thus recommended general use.

Permutation versus Bootstrap Significance Tests in Multiple Regression and Anova
Kempthorne's (1952) formulation of the randomization test is extended to yield a permutational analog of the bootstrap significance test. In the new test, residuals of a multiple regression are permuted instead of being bootstrapped. The test is an attractive alternative for Oja's test that permutes predictors (Austr. J.
متن کاملA WEIGHTED LINEAR REGRESSION MODEL FOR IMPERCISE RESPONSE
A weighted linear regression model with impercise response and p-real explanatory variables is analyzed. The LR fuzzy random variable is introduced and a metric is suggested for coping with this kind of variables. A least square solution for estimating the parameters of the model is derived. The result are illustrated by the means of some case studies.

the present study reports an analysis of response articles in four different disciplines in the social sciences, i.e., linguistics, english for specific purposes (esp), accounting, and psychology. the study has three phases: micro analysis, macro analysis, and e-mail interview. the results of the micro analysis indicate that a three-level linguistic pattern is used by the writers in order to cr...

Formal testing procedures are generally not available for determining which splits in a regression tree are significant. Such a procedure is presented using permutation testing applied to order statistics. Finally, traditional cross validation and the permutation testing procedure are compared in a specific example.
متن کاملPropagation Redundancy for Permutation Channels
Finding a good model of a constraint satisfaction problem (CSP) is a challenging task. A modeller must specify a set of constraints that capture the definitions of the problem, and the model should also have strong propagation. In other words, the model should be able to quickly reduce the domains of the variables of the problem, and the implementation of these propagators should be efficient, ...
